Kensington-based brewery Human Robot is preparing to open its first suburban location in Jenkintown. The new venue is called “The Haus” and is expected to debut in February 2022.
The new establishment is located in the former Borough Brewhouse and Guild Hall Brewing Co. space at 210 York Road. It was purchased by the brewery’s partners – Jake Atkinson, Chris Roller, Ken Correl, and Andrew Foss – for $1.325 million.
Atkinson and co-owners are excited to move into the 5,500 square feet of space in the 1920 building with 40-foot ceilings. They plan to make the space more family-friendly than their current Kensington location by adding children’s menu options from their food partner, Herman’s At The Haus.
On Tuesday, February 22nd, Human Robot will host a preview event at their upcoming Jenkintown location. The beer-centric event will feature a few of their signature brews as well as a sneak peek at the new venue.
In addition to the beer, the preview event will also include food from Herman’s At The Haus – the restaurant portion of the brewery that will be able to seat 140 people. This will include some American pub fare as well as German-inspired dishes.
The brews at the new facility will include more of their popular pilsners, lagers and other Euro-centric styles while also offering a few fun batches such as hazy IPAs and huge stouts. The team plans to add more tank space to increase production in the future.
Despite the challenges of running a brewpub during these tough times, Atkinson and his co-owners are optimistic about the future. Their goal is to create a space that will attract both locals and tourists alike.
They also want to be a family-friendly environment with a fun, interactive play area for children and a food program that includes kids’ options. This will help to make the upcoming establishment more attractive to families who may otherwise be hesitant to give it a try.
The new brewery will be a welcome addition to the craft scene in Jenkintown and is expected to attract a lot of families and locals looking for some great beers, a good selection of food and a friendly atmosphere. This will be a perfect place to spend a night with friends or enjoy a special occasion.
