When geologist Ryan McKinney and aerospace engineer Matt Brzowski met on the sidelines of their kids’ sports they quickly discovered that they shared a passion for craft beer. That’s how they started Artifact Brewing Hatboro PA – a nano brewery and taproom that has a heart.
Artifact was born when the two friends, who met while a home brewer and an engineer respectively, decided to open their own nano-brewery in October of 2019. They are passionate about creating quality, small-batch beers that feature rock-related beer names.
They’ve built a following by hosting events such as fly-tying nights, beer dinners, and special events featuring local artists. They also partner with food trucks to provide tasty treats.
Their website says they offer a “local and family gathering place.” They serve a variety of beers and have a rotating menu of food trucks that visit their patio.
They are a member of the Brewers of Pennsylvania (BOP). They are currently undergoing renovations to their space at 19 W. Court Street in Doylestown.
The partners want to replace their current space with a 1,000-square-foot tasting room, 280-square-foot bar and 900-square-foot brewing operation. The zoning board is expected to vote this month on a variance request for Artifact.
The company has requested four off-site parking spaces for employees and customers through an agreement with the Marshall Financial Group, which owns a lot near the site. The company is planning to operate Thursday to Sunday and Monday through Friday, with the possibility of adding Wednesday.
