Rockledge Model Railroad Museum Jenkintown PA

The Rockledge Model Railroad Museum Jenkintown PA is a really great place to check out if you are looking for a family fun activity or if you are a train buff. It’s also a place where you can learn more about the history of trains and railroads, as well as their impact on our modern day society.

The museum features two different model railroad displays. The upstairs display is what the museum calls the Mon-Valley Railroad, and it resembles a real train track that used to run from Pittsburgh to Cumberland, Maryland. The downstairs display is a little bit more whimsical, and it’s also lower to the ground than the upstairs display. It’s also a good place to bring kids because it has several train tables that they can play on.

A third display is currently under construction, and it will focus on Pennsylvania and Reading line trains from the 1950s. It’s going to be a 3000 square foot walk-through model railroad, and more than 750 feet of main line train tracks will be operational during open house hours. The museum’s members hope to finish the project by next spring, and they also plan to work on some of the other exhibits in the building.

In addition to its model railways, the museum has a number of other railroad related items. For instance, it has more than 100 historic locomotives and railroad cars. The museum’s collection chronicles America’s railroad history and the evolution of railroad technology. It also includes historic tools and other artifacts. The museum is free to visit and open to the public, and it’s the perfect place to get a taste of America’s past.

The museum also hosts an annual holiday train show each November through January. During this time, visitors can enjoy a wide range of railroad-themed activities and events, including a children’s play area, a gift shop, and a snack bar. It’s a great place to spend the day and is sure to delight all visitors, regardless of age.

For those who want to learn more about model railways, the museum offers a variety of classes and workshops throughout the year. These classes are intended to teach participants the basics of modeling and how to create realistic scenery using a variety of techniques. They also cover a number of topics, including how to design and build model railroads.

The Rockledge Model Railroad Museum is located on the corner of Montgomery and Sylvania Avenues in a historic textile mill building. It is home to the GATSME Lines Model Railroad Club, which was formerly located in Fort Washington, before relocating to the new facility in 2014. The club is a 501(c)(3) designated non-profit organization, and donations are tax deductible. The museum is open to the public on the second Saturday of each month from noon to 3 p.m.
