The Richard Wall House Museum in Elkins Park is a place where you can feel like you’ve been transported back in time. Located on land purchased by William Penn, this two century old home is a popular tourist destination for those who enjoy learning about the past and history of Pennsylvania.
One of the most interesting aspects of visiting this museum is that it is actually a family owned business. Unlike many museums, the people who work here have a strong passion for this historical period and their efforts are apparent throughout the entire experience. I found this to be very exciting and I really enjoyed my visit!
I was also very impressed with the overall look and feel of the place. It’s a beautiful old house and there is no doubt that it has been well preserved over the years.
The museum is open on the fourth Sunday of every month from noon to 4:00 p.m. They also offer private tours if you’d prefer.
Another great thing about this museum is that it’s FREE to visit! They also have a wonderful gift shop to pick up some souvenirs for your friends and family.
This is a great place to bring kids and teach them about the history of Pennsylvania. The museum is very well laid out and has lots of interactive pieces to learn about.
You can even get a tour of the actual house, which is pretty cool. The house is quite big so you get to see all of the rooms and see what life was like in the early days of the state of Pennsylvania.

If you’re looking for some outdoor activities, be sure to check out The Rink at Old York Road or take a hike in the gorgeous Wall Park. If you’re in the mood for a little shopping, you can visit the Jenkintown Outlets or head to the Piazza on The Square, where there are plenty of small shops and delicious restaurants to choose from.
While in the area, make sure to check out Lynnewood Hall or the Marco Polo Ristorante & Bar for an excellent meal! You can even take a short trip to Philadelphia, where you can explore the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Kirkman House Mansion
This 12-room Victorian mansion was built in the 1870s by a cattle rancher and businessman named William Kirkman. It features lavish details including Corinthian columns and Greek figureheads over the upstairs windows. It is filled with original furnishings and heirlooms such as a box piano that was given to the owner’s eldest daughter.
